Jugaadopolis 2: Connecting Courtyards, Old Delhi, June 2019.
July 5, 2019A conversation with Courtyards; its occupants and users. Interpreting and mapping the life span of courtyards in select heritage structures in Shahjahanabad. Aishwarya Tipnis Architects in association with Sunderdeep College of Architecture organised a four day workshop titled Jugaadopolis 2 from 15th June to 18th June 2019. The workshop is being organised by Aishwarya Tipnis Architects (ATA) in Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi). The objective of the workshop was to introduce the students to the rich architecture and heritage of Shahjahanabad through experiencing life in the havelis. The hands-on workshop provided an opportunity to the students to gain first hand experience of living and working in a heritage city and helped them understand social systems and dynamics. The students presented their work in the form of short AV films.

This initiative of teaching students learn about the history and old design elements is very helpful…
Not only in studies but also understanding climate responsive architecture.
Having so many great architects and mentors of different fields is very amazing and productive.
And the video making is best…..and knowing the history of havelis and chandni chowk

it was amazing Experience I’m really glad that I am part of this adventure journey of jugaado polis It was like i just found myself in a haritage world all coz of I get opportunity to learn something about history of Haven like Haveli with great architects…i remember my workshop of jugaado polis which was in delhi chandni chowk our team is divided into some groups wd leading a great hardworking mentors we all are walking in different street and found haritage haveli in those street we intract wd local people….to know more about those haveli history…..those five days of my workshop is awsm it is very intreasting nd very practical…amazing enviornment ….positivity.. All i like to say there are lot’s of things …..in short i would always like to be a part of this jugaado polis….i just love ….

Jugaadopolis was the best workshop i had ever attended. Under the guidance of such great Architects and mentors we not only gained lot of knowledge but we explored our creativity as well. The new mode of presentation by making video / film was the best part, which kept our enthusiasm alive since the very first day to the last and we started paying more attention to the minute details because of this. Spending days in the havelis brought us more closer to our heritage and evoked a sense of responsibility as future Architects. Workshops like jugaadopolis should be conducted and I am anxiously waiting for the next announcement.

Jugaadopoils let us to move out of the box, to tell us that architecture is just not about construction and design but also of rennovating buildings, heritage…

Our mentors help us a lot with interacting people and give a bigger exposure to look over the architecture…they all were very sweet…we learn a lot and i really want to be the part of it again and again…

Jugadopolis was surely the most unique experience i had in 3 years of architecture , pushing us to think creatively was a bliss. I saw a place i used to visit daily from a totally different perspective it was like a world inside world . In the Ancient hawelis, crowded lanes, etc we got to see essence and heart of chandni chowk. We learned softwares that i never thought of in 2 days in the most comforting environment and learned to be a “team”.Interaction with locals seeing their life and learning from such humble teachers was a pleasure and i would love to go to as many “jugadopolis” as i can .
The biggest success story that came out of this workshop was how well all you students worked and what spectacular films were presented to us. It is always a pleasure to teach innovative practices, but it is more satisfying when those new ideas are accepted so well.

Genuinely one of the best workshops I’ve attended….Under the guidance of such great Architects and mentors. I was very impressed with how you were able to balance working with all of us as individuals as well as a group. Spending days in preserving the heritage of old havelis were acknowledged. It was a really exciting experience for us, we got to learn about the history of the buildings and learn how to make videos , do research ..interact with people and present everything in a more interactive manner. The mentors were really helpful throughout the whole process , providing us with the necessary guidance. All in all it was a very good experience and I would want to attend it again
